About Meg

Meg Headshots-911.jpg

I am an interdisciplinary artist whose main mediums are photography, textiles, sculpture, and the written word.  My work is a reflection of my life or lives that have come before my own.  It encompasses topics that range from maternal bonds to racial inequities, both subjects that feel hard to tackle at times.

I find I work best when I have a hundred ideas on a subject and little by little whittle those down to just a few that have meaning and substance.  All the while working on side projects like purposefully using chemicals on cheese and seeing how the mold grows.  There is a deepness in my thought process that is inherent, but I am curious by nature, and it sustains the artist in me.  I also think I'm funny and sarcastic, though that could be wishful thinking.

While not working on art, I attend Georgia State University and am a senior in the BFA Photography program. In addition to being in the program, I work as an assistant within the department, a position that has enabled me to learn the backend of maintaining a darkroom and working in a professional print lab.

On a personal level, I live in Atlanta, Georgia, I am a Mom of two, married, and go by the pronouns She/Her.  I am an avid reader and usually have a camera wherever I go.  I prefer digital over film, but there is a certain magic to seeing that print appear in the developer tray in the darkroom, do you agree?
